In a historic development, the International Wellness Day, proposed by Nepal, has been officially adopted by the United Nations General Assembly on March 10. Beginning this year, the day will be observed globally on April 15 each year.
International Wellness Day aims to promote a broader understanding of health — not merely as the absence of disease, but as a state of complete physical, mental, social, cultural, emotional, and environmental wellbeing. The initiative seeks to encourage individuals, communities, and nations to prioritize holistic wellness as a foundation for sustainable progress.
At a time when global discourse is often dominated by conflict, politics, and economic concerns, the recognition of human wellbeing and holistic health on the international agenda stands as an inspiring and hopeful step forward for humanity.
For many years, Jeevan Vigyan has been actively advocating this vision across the world by conducting programs on yoga, meditation, and holistic wellness, promoting both personal wellbeing and environmental harmony. The belief that true human progress begins with inner balance, awareness, self-awakening, and wellbeing continues to guide this movement. This declaration is the culmination of sustained efforts by many organizations and individuals for the wellbeing of our planet.
The global recognition of wellness through this historic resolution is a significant milestone and a proud moment for Nepal. It is expected to further strengthen Nepal’s journey toward becoming a global center for wellness and wellness tourism.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the Government of Nepal, Nepal’s Permanent Mission to the United Nations, and all individuals and member states whose support and collaboration made this historic initiative possible.
While safeguarding this historic achievement, we also express that Jeevan Vigyan remains firmly committed to collaborating with the Government of Nepal and the concerned authorities to ensure its implementation, paving the way for the nation’s sustainable prosperity and a stronger contribution of Nepal to the world.
